A ceiling is a system, not just boards. Missing one item, like wall angles or the right screws, can stop a job while someone goes back for it.

Use this checklist to put together a complete materials list before you ask for a quotation.

1. The ceiling itself

Choose between a board ceiling and a suspended ceiling. For board ceilings, 9mm gypsum board is the usual choice, with 12mm moisture resistant board for bathrooms and kitchens. To estimate quantity, divide the ceiling area by the area of one board and add around 10% for cutting and waste.

2. Framing: channels and angles

The frame holds the ceiling level and carries its weight.

  • GI F channel and GI C channel for the ceiling grid

  • GI wall angles, PVC wall angles or 6mm wall angles around the edge of the room

3. Screws, nails and plugs

Use the right fixing for each job, because the wrong screw can strip the frame or crack the board.

  • Board screws and black board screws to fix boards to the frame

  • Concrete nails and 6mm wall plugs to fix angles and channels to walls and slabs

  • Golden screws for timber fixings

4. Anything else

The catalogue highlights a selection of products. Many more items, sizes, specifications and accessories are available on request, so include everything you need in one list.

5. Measure before you quote

For an accurate quotation, measure the length and width of each room and note any room that needs moisture resistant board. Send that list with your site location.
