Polad Trading supplies gypsum board in 9mm and 12mm. 9mm gypsum board is lighter and is commonly used for ceilings, where boards are fixed overhead to a ceiling frame. 12mm gypsum board is stiffer and more impact resistant, so it is generally preferred for drywall partitions and wall linings. For bathrooms, kitchens and other humid rooms, use 12mm moisture resistant board instead.
Moisture resistant board is a gypsum board made to cope with humidity, for ceilings and walls in bathrooms, toilets, kitchens and laundries. Polad Trading supplies it in 12mm. It handles steam and occasional splashes, but it is not designed for areas that get wet directly, such as shower walls; use cement fibre board there.
Cement fibre board is available in 6mm and 9mm. It is made from cement and fibres, so it does not soften when wet. That makes it the right choice for wet areas, as a base behind tiles, around sinks and in covered outdoor areas where gypsum board would be damaged by water.
Alongside gypsum, moisture resistant and cement fibre boards, Polad Trading supplies marine board, PVC foam board, PVC marble boards, MDF boards, super gloss board and block boards. Marine board copes with moisture for sink cabinets and vanities; PVC foam board is water resistant for cabinets and panels in damp spaces; PVC marble boards give walls a marble look; MDF is smooth and easy to paint for furniture; super gloss board gives a high-shine finish for kitchen and wardrobe fronts; and block board has a strong core for long shelves and heavy doors.
